Aamir faces fatwa after marrying Gauri; cleric objects to interfaith marriage

Aamir Khan has landed in controversy just days after marrying longtime partner Gauri Spratt, with a Muslim cleric objecting to their interfaith marriage and declaring it impermissible under his interpretation of Islamic law. Maulana Ibrahim Hussain, the Shahi Chief Mufti of the Muslim Personal Darul Ifta, has issued a fatwa against Aamir Khan over his marriage to Gauri Spratt, saying it goes against Sharia because she is not a Muslim.
